"It's still in my heart," said Bruentta Johnson, witness. "The older man flew up in the air and landed."

Police say the victim was left with serious injuries. The driver who did it fled the scene.

"The man was laying there with his legs twisted, blood coming all out of his mouth. It's just sad," Johnson said.

Those who saw the crash say it is no surprise. They describe Capitol Dr. as a race track.

"A lot of speeding, a lot of shifting lanes, a lot of wild driving," said James Eland, witness.

"Hopefully, some of these youngsters out here slow it down," said Robert Bradford, witness.

Eland and Bradford saw the crash and the aftermath from the salon across the street. They say the reckless driving has to stop.

"Our thoughts and prayers for him and his family," Bradford said.
