Woman to face trial in seizure of 84 Great Danes

OSSIPEE, N.H. — The trial for a woman who pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges after 84 Great Danes were seized from her New Hampshire home has been scheduled for Oct. 16.

Christina Fay is seeking the return of her dogs, which were seized in June. Authorities say the dogs were living in filth and suffering from sores and other health problems.

Fay testified at a hearing Tuesday that she took great care of her dogs. She said she trained as a veterinary technician and worked for the Bronx Zoo earlier in her career. Fay said she maintained a strict feeding, watering and exercise regimen for the dogs.

A prosecutor said if someone is charged with animal cruelty, the state may confiscate the animals that were allegedly being abused, pending trial.
