Decomposed body found in Mitchell Park Lagoon near 23rd and Pierce

MILWAUKEE -- A decomposed body was discovered Sunday, November 5th  in the Mitchell Park Lagoon -- near 23rd and Pierce, which is near Journey House Field.

According to police, officers were flagged down by a citizen around 3:20 p.m. near S. 23rd Street and W. National Avenue regarding a deceased person.

Human remains were located in a lagoon near that location.  The initial investigation reveals the remains are likely that of a man.

The medical examiner said the remains are that of a 47-year-old man who was reported missing in August of 2016. This case does not appear to be suspicious, the medical examiner said.

The medical examiner said they're working to confirm the victim's ID through DNA testing.

An autopsy was performed and the cause of death is pending.
