Ever considered working for IKEA? Hiring event for Oak Creek store set for Feb. 24, 25



OAK CREEK -- IKEA Oak Creek is beginning the process of hiring for its new location which is set to open this coming summer.

IKEA is holding a hiring event on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day). The hiring event is taking place at 5007 S. Howell Ave. Suite 200 in Milwaukee -- near Mitchell International Airport. The company expects to hire 250 full-time employees.

According to the IKEA website, interviews will be on a walk-in basis.  No appointment necessary.  But those interested should come early to guarantee a spot.

    The 291,000 square foot store in Oak Creek is set to open this summer on 29 acres of land near the corner of I-94 and Drexel Ave. The store will include a 300-seat cafeteria-style restaurant -- and the famous Swedish meatballs will be a featured item.

    Again, an exact opening date hasn't been set for the Oak Creek IKEA. The closest IKEA stores right now are in Bolingbrook and Schaumburg, IL; St. Louis, MO; and Bloomington, MN.
