Semi driver cited after rollover crash shut down I-43 NB near Cedarburg for hours

CEDARBURG -- A semi driver was cited after a rollover crash on I-43 NB at Pioneer Rd. near Cedarburg in Ozaukee County Thursday morning, Feb. 15.

It happened around 6:30 a.m.

Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office said the semi went off the highway and onto the shoulder after the driver lost control. The semi entered a grassy wedge between the freeway and on-ramp and ended up rolling off the roadway and onto the grassy area.

The truck was carrying cotton seed, which spilled out of the trailer and onto the grassy "gore" area.

A large tow truck had to be called to turn the truck upright, and there was a brief full closure of I-43 NB in the area to allow this.

The Ozaukee County Highway Department was called out to help clean up the spilled contents.
