Police issue safety alert after vehicle crashes near UWM Student Union





MILWAUKEE -- A safety alert was issued late Saturday night, Feb. 17 to UW-Milwaukee students after two suspects crashed their vehicle near the UWM Student Union.

At around 10:45 p.m., students received the alert.

According to police, officers initiated a pursuit of a stolen car wanted in two separate armed robberies (300 block of E. Mason around 9:35 p.m. and 900 block of E. Mason around 9:40 p.m.). The vehicle lost control and crashed outside of the UW-Milwaukee Union.

Two suspects fled the scene and are still being sought. One suspect, a 18-year-old man from the vehicle, was taken into custody.

The suspects are described as:


    Milwaukee police confirmed the incident and said it’s believed to be connected to a number of recent robberies in the downtown/east side area. MPD’s “Robbery Task Force” is investigating.

    MPD will present the case against the arrested suspect in the coming days to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
