Milwaukee Admirals win 4-1 over Rockford IceHogs

MILWAUKEE -- The Admirals didn't take many shots on Friday night, but the ones they did, they made them count.

The Ads fired just 12 shots on goal during the game on four of them to grab an important two points in a 4-1 win over Rockford on at Panther Arena, snapping a three-game losing streak in the process.

Emil Pettersson scored two of them, including an insurance goal with less than three minutes to play to pace the offense, while Freddy Allard broke a 1-1 tie late in the third for his first career-game-winning goal.

Pettersson got the Admirals off to a quick start, scoring on the team's first shot just 89 seconds into the game. Pettersson took a feed from Alex Carrier at the top of the right circle and then fired a wrister past Rockford goalie Jeff Glass for his 11th of the season.

The IceHogs tied the score up in the second period when former Admiral Cody Franson picked up a power-play goal of his own at the 4:44 mark.

Allard's game-winner came after Rockford failed to clear the Ads zone and the puck went ended up on Justin Kirkland's stick. Kirkland slid the puck to the Allard in the slot and he beat glass five-hole for his fifth goal of the season.

Mark McNeill sealed it for the Ads with an empty-netter with 1:31 remaining in the contest.

Anders Lindback was impressive in net, keeping the Ads even with the Hogs in spite of a 24-7 shot discrepancy at one point. He finished the night with 25 saves for his 23rd win of the season.

The Admirals continue a busy weekend when they travel to Grand Rapids tomorrow night. They will be back at home on Sunday afternoon at 5 pm against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
