Body of man suspected of jumping from Hoan in January pulled from Milwaukee River

MILWAUKEE -- A body pulled from the Milwaukee River Monday, March 5 has been identified as that of Lugene Boyd III, 34, suspected of jumping off the Hoan Bridge on Jan. 8. The medical examiner has ruled Boyd's death a suicide.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, detectives had investigated a possible suicide after finding a disabled vehicle on I-794 on the Hoan Bridge near the arches in January. A county plow driver had seen the vehicle pass him, and then stopped to assist when he saw the vehicle pulled over, but no driver was on scene.

Deputies went to the area below the bridge to search, and were joined by the Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee Police Department Dive Team, but did not find anyone.

Milwaukee police and fire officials on Monday recovered Boyd's body and contacted the MCSO because of the missing person's report the MCSO filed in January.
