Police: Boy, 16, from Arkansas admitted to posting threat to Fond du Lac High School on Snapchat

FOND DU LAC -- A boy, 16, was arrested Monday, March 5 in connection with a threat posted on Snapchat Monday -- warning of a possible school shooting at Fond du Lac High School.

According to police, the post read:

"Attention Fondy Highschool (sic) students I've been informed that there is going to be a school shooting tomorrow (3/5/18) I don't know if this is true but I wouldn't trust it don't go to school tomorrow."

Fond du Lac police linked the post to an Arkansas boy with previous ties to the Fond du Lac area. He was interviewed in Arkansas and admitted he wrote the Snapchat post.

Investigators are working with the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office and Arkansas authorities for possible charges.

Police said they're applauding the students who received this disturbing message and brought it to the attention of their parents, who contacted law enforcement.

Police noted that "threats or references to school shootings are taken very seriously and will result in very serious criminal charges for those found responsible for making those threats."

There will be an increased police presence at the school Tuesday out of an abundance of caution.
