Evanston police: Report of person with gun at Northwestern University was a 'swatting incident'

EVANSTON -- Evanston police say the report of a person with a gun on the campus of  Northwestern University was a swatting incident. Officials say there are no victims and there is no danger to the public.

University spokesman Jon Yates said Wednesday afternoon that the school had a report of a person with a gun in Engelhart Hall, a graduate student dormitory on the Evanston campus.

The school also tweeted about the report, asking people to stay away from the area and to "shelter in a safe place and stay until further notice."

Again, the area is secure -- and police and fire are clearing the area.
