Racine County: 2 people killed in multi-vehicle crash in Town of Yorkville

RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County officials identified on Tuesday, May 29 the victims of a fatal collision that happened in the Town of Yorkville on Friday, May 25.

Officials say 65-year-old Phillip Burmeister and 62-year-old Nadine Burmeister were the victims of the crash. They were riding a trike (three-wheeled motorcycle).  The trike was west bound on County Highway C, Spring St., stopped 59th Dr.  waiting for traffic to clear to make a left-hand turn. The trike was rear-ended by a vehicle following.  The Burmeisters were on the trike and ejected from the vehicle into the eastbound lane of traffic where they were struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The Burmeisters sustained massive trauma, officials say. They were pronounced deceased on the scene.

The operator that struck the trike was cited for inattentive driving.

The Racine County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Union Grove/Yorkville Fire and Rescue.
