MILWAUKEE --  A woman is hospitalized in Milwaukee, recovering from a serious car accident that sent her vehicle flying into a building.

Slamming through bricks and doors -- a car careened right into the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church near Locust and Teutonia.

"The whole front is really messed up," Pastor Harold D. Turner said.

"It's just a sad situation," Turner said.

Turner arrived early Saturday morning to the scene and his church in shambles on the inside.

"I'm waiting on the adjusters from the insurance to come out and give me an estimate on what it should be," Turner said.

Police say it all stemmed from a hit-and-run. Two cars collided into each other. While one of those vehicles crashed into the church.

The other car drove off -- never stopping to check on the victim.

"Whoever did that should at least call help for person who got injured," Qadadha said.

Moe Qadadha works nearby and is disheartened by the suspected driver's actions.

"That's really really sad," Qadadha said.

Qadadha said it's unfortunate and sees careless driving in this area far too often.

"Cars on this intersection is actually a dangerous one," Qadadha said. "A lot of cars going down the street speeding up."

The gaping hole was eventually covered up -- but massive damage still remains. Pastor Turner said he's glad it wasn't worse and thoughts of recovery go out to the injured woman.

"We are praying for her," Turner said.

As remorse and accountability are being called on for the suspect.

"Hopefully whomever did the damage will pay for it some way somehow," Turner said.

The pastor says service will not be affected, members will just have to use the side door. Meanwhile, police are still looking for the driver and what led up to the crash.
