Suspect in Cudahy stabbing and standoff now in custody



A 37-year-old suspect who allegedly stabbed another man and holed up in a home on E. Van Norman is now in custody after a standoff.

Police say the stabbing occurred inside a home on the 3700 block of E. Van Norman Ave. The 26-year-old victim received stab wounds to the chest, and was found in the backyard of the home.

The victim was later transported to Froedtert by Flight for Life. His condition is unknown.

Police had blocked off a six-block perimeter, because the man was still inside the residence. Two schools near the incident were put on a soft lock-down, where class resumed as normal and extra personnel were posted inside the schools.

Police say this is not a random act of violence, and the victim knew the alleged stabber. The suspect was taken into police custody without incident. The the 37-year-old suspect also suffered injuries prior to being taken into custody.

The condition of the victim and the suspect are unknown at this time.
