The trend of camping out early to get the best Black Friday deals could soon be gone

With Black Friday quickly approaching, many stores are starting the deals earlier and earlier. The trend of camping out early to get the best Black Friday deals could soon turn into a midnight marathon Thanksgiving night!

Kohl's, Boston Store, and Macy's are all opening at midnight. Wal-Mart is even opening at 10 p.m., which is technically Thanksgiving Day. Old Navy is even expected to be open all day on the holiday.

Stacy Vogel-Davis of the Business Journal says stores are trying to one-up each other, not just with their hours, but with their deals too.

"The sales are starting a week before Thanksgiving or they're running all through November," Vogel-Davis says. "The stores are trying to capture more of that marketshare, and the question becomes when do customers backlash to the point it starts swinging in the other direction?"

For many consumers and people we talked to, Black Friday is a family tradition they don't plan to change.. for others it will continue to be a day where they avoid the mall at all costs.
