Volunteers fill Thanksgiving bins for needy families

In a Sunday-morning assembly line, 30 volunteers with the Hunger Task Force packed 800 bins with donated Thanksgiving meal items for families in need in southeastern Wisconsin. Hunger Task Force Director Sherri Tussler says the need is great, as more than 40,000 people depend on the food bank every month.

The bins are filled with things like cranberry sauce, gravy, turkey, pies, sausage and cheese, and there's even a Pick 'N Save gift card included, so people can pick up some extra items for their Thanksgiving feast. In addition, Rexnord, located on Greenfield in Milwaukee, is participating in a "Turkey Ticker" campaign, and they're looking to you to help, by donating a turkey to a family in need.

"If you donate a turkey, we will donate a turkey, and we're hoping to get as many turkeys as possible out there for the people of Milwaukee who might not have a turkey otherwise," Linda Groth with Rexnord said.

Once the meals are packed and ready to go, they will be shipped to local food pantries and distributed to families that need help the most.
