MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced on Wednesday morning they plan to seek re-election in 2012. They also endorsed each others' campaigns.

Barrett was elected to mayor on April 6, 2004 and would be seeking a third term as Milwaukee's chief executive.

Abele won a special election in April 2011 to fill the remaining year of former County Executive Scott Walker’s term. Abele is seeking a full, four-year term.

The date of the spring election is April 3, 2012.
