Police say Bluemound Target construction site burglarized again

BROOKFIELD -- Brookfield police are looking for a burglar, targeting a Target store construction site, after thousands of dollars worth of materials were stolen on two separate occasions at the Bluemound Road construction site.

A Brookfield police spokesman says the Target construction site at Bluemound Road and Elm Grove Road has been burglarized at least twice. The most recent occasion was the evening of December 30th, when police say someone snuck around the back of the site and stole copper tubing and a commercial extension cord, worth $3,500.

The 140,000 square foot site was also hit back in October. FOX6's media partners at the Brookfield Patch report copper, tools and other supplies were taken during the first incident. Brookfield police say they increased patrols along Bluemound after this burlary.

The repeated burglaries come as a surprise across the street from the site at an Elm Grove shopping center inside Elements Therapeutic Massage and Bella Kitchen and Bath Remodeling and Design. Workers at both shops say the area is safe, and they're looking forward to the burglaries stopping at the Target store and other stores opening up. "We're hoping there's going to be a lot more foot trafic with the new Target and the Trader Joe's. We've had no problems.

The cops patrol the area. In fact, the cops come through the area several times during the day, and several times in the evening," one employee said.
