Icy roads create concerns in Ozaukee County

OZAUKEE COUNTY – Icy conditions across southeastern Wisconsin Sunday resulted in several calls to first responders and fender-benders.

Ozaukee County officials say they responded to a few auto accidents Sunday afternoon because of the icy conditions -- especially on secondary roads. Those are generally some of the last places to get salted.

In a Mequon neighborhood, slick roads sent Jack McCann's SUV into a ditch on Grace Avenue, and sent his heart racing! "I was slipping everywhere. It was literally like one big Slip 'N Slide. I kinda thought I was going to die," McCann said. McCann is fine, and there was no property damage.

In most areas, the trucks were eventually able to get caught up with getting the slick streets salted.

Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Waukesha county officials report they also responded to calls from people who had slipped and fallen on sidewalks and in parking lots Sunday.
