Lonely Sunday for some fans, businesses without Packers game

MILWAUKEE -- It was a lonely Sunday for many Packers fans and the businesses that profit from the games.

At Major Goolsby's Sunday afternoon, it was mostly empty, and the only enthusiasm came from the fans of the four teams still on the field. Without the green and gold being broadcast after the Packers lost to the Giants last weekend, some cheeseheads spent their Sunday not at a bar watching the Pack, but at a bridal show held by "Engaged Milwaukee," at the Frontier Airlines Center in downtown Milwaukee.

Dave Carpenter and his fiance Melissa Bert spent their Sunday afternoon at the bridal show. Officials at the show say there seemed to be more grooms in attendance at this Sunday's show. "I think we're seeing more grooms, which I'm sure is a little bit of a factor now that the Packers aren't playing," Melissa Schneider with Engaged Milwaukee said.

Bert says she was happy to have Sunday afternoon free to get some wedding planning done. "Too bad the Packers weren't playing today, but it gave us a chance to plan ahead," Bert said. Carpenter on the other hand, would've probably rather been cheering on the Pack! "My wife drags me along and makes me help," Carpenter said.

For Packers fans, the next chance to avoid an activity and fill a bar for a Packers game...is about eight months from now!
