Unique bridal sale benefits children in need

BROOKFIELD -- Ladies looking for that perfect wedding dress are in luck! St. Vincent de Paul is selling 1,000 gowns it received as a donation from Apollo Bridal. It's a three-day bridal sale that begins Thursday, and goes through Saturday, and it's not just the dresses that are on sale!

All of the brand new dresses are half off! Some gowns are marked as low as $50, but this isn't your typical bridal sale -- all of the proceeds are being used to buy new beds for children in need. "Our most important goal of this sale is to get the children off the floor and into a warm, comfortable bed," St. Vincent de Paul Community Relations Director Mary Greulich said.

Last year alone, St. Vincent de Paul gave 2,000 children new beds. This provided a little relief for many parents. "It was a pressure lifted off. You know how you sit back and wonder, where are you going to get this from, and how are you going to do this. They actually came through for us," Beds 4 Kids recipient Fa'Lesha Finch said.

This is the first time St. Vincent de Paul is raising money for its Beds 4 Kids program through a bridal sale. Also on sale is all of the accessories the bride-to-be needs, such as veils, tiaras, purses and shawls. This sale is not only making brides happy - it's also helping families in need. "When you're walking down the aisle, I can't think of anything more beautiful than to think you put a child in a bed," Greulich said.

St. Vincent de Paul's bridal boutique will be open February 9th - 11th from 9 am to 8 pm. The temporary store is located at 12730 W. Burleigh Road in Brookfield.
