Rescuers pull 8 to safety from Fox River in De Pere

DE PERE (AP) — Eight people stranded on the icy Fox River in De Pere have been brought to safety.

A call came in shortly after 7 a.m. Friday that the eight were stranded on the ice near Voyageur Park. Brown County Sheriff’s deputies brought a rescue boat to reach the eight, who were fishing on the ice.

WLUK-TV reports the eight were stranded after a large chunk of ice broke away.
