Girl Scout cookies have arrived!

WEST ALLIS --  It's been a long wait, but have no fear, Girl Scouts cookies have arrived in southeast Wisconsin.  More than 30,000 cases were dropped off at State Fair Park this weekend!  This is just one of 30 sites where cookies are being sorted and handed out to young sales women, just one step shy of making it to your mouth.

"I am really happy we can help out people with the causes that we choose," Girl Scout Ashely Koenings said. Koenings arrived to pick up 450 boxes for her troop with her mom. "I think it is a really good activity for the girls.  It's really positive for their troops and it teaches them a lot of life skills," Ashley's mom, Nicole Koenings said.  The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast say the cookie sales are their major fundraiser which will help keep programs and their seven camps running.

The top seller among the cookie flavors offered this year was no surprise.  "Thin Mints, hands down.  Caramel deLights and Peanut Butter Patties are a close third, to the second," Wendy Dahl with the Girl Scouts said. Dahl says 25 percent of all cookies sold were Thin Mints.

Cookies should be handed out to those who ordered in the next couple of weeks.  If you missed out, you can still purchase cookies at local shopping centers.  Troops will be setting up in the coming weeks - click to see WHERE you can buy cookies!
