Concerned neighbors help foil burglary in Town of Saukville

TOWN OF SAUKVILLE -- The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office says some concerned citizens helped foil a burglary in the Town of Saukville.

Sheriff's officials received a 911 call from concerned neighbors after they saw a suspicious person entering a neighbor's residence in the 1800 block of Meadowlark Road.

Officials arrested 28-year-old Tyler Fendt of Port Washington and say they found narcotics and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. Investigators determined that the narcotics found in Fendt's vehicle had been taken from the homeowner's residence.

Fendt later admitted to police to entering the residence in search of narcotics to support his heroin addiction.

Fendt was charged with burglary, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is in custody on $5,000 bail.

"The quick reaction by the concerned neighbor in this case resulted in this burglary being thwarted. Without the benefit of the neighbors' call, this criminal, due to his drug addiction, would likely have continued to victimize others until he was caught," Ozaukee County Sheriff Maury Straub said.
