Contact 6: Satellite TV customers getting scammed

MILWAUKEE -- FOX6's Contact 6 says satellite TV customers are getting scammed! Callers are targeting Latinos and minorities, promising more channels and lower bills for a one-time annual payment.

The Bureau of Consumer Protection says don't fall for it. Typical scenarios involve the caller offering an upgrade for a payment of between $200 and $400.

In one case, the caller offered to put money into the victim's account in exchange for the upgrade. Then, they ask for personal financial information, or, in one case, to send a prepaid debit card to a third-party address.

Contact 6 says do not give your information to anyone you don't know. If you get a similar call, hang up and report it to your satellite TV provider.
