15-year-old accused of street racing to stand trial

MILWAUKEE -- A 15-year-old accused of street racing a friend and killing an innocent driver will stand trial.

Daniel Barrios-Perez is charged with homicide by negligent use of a vehicle. Barrios-Perez was charged in adult court, after being accused of drag racing and killing a 58-year-old Waukesha woman.

According to the criminal complaint, Barrios-Perez admitted to speeding along Forest Home Avenue back in November. He also admitted the car belonged to his mother, and he took it without her permission.

Witnesses told police they saw Barrios-Perez and another driver racing up to 60 miles-an-hour along Forest Home Avenue, where the speed limit is just 30 miles-an-hour.

At the 34th Street intersection, Barrios-Perez crashed into another car, killing 58-year-old Barbara McIntosh of Waukesha. The complaint says McIntosh died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Barrios-Perez did wait at the scene for police to arrive. Bond for Barrios-Perez was kept at $10,000, although he is not in custody.

Barrios-Perez will be back in court at the end of March.
