One of a kind parade takes over the Third Ward

MILWAUKEE -- FOX6 Photojournalist Andy Konkle shows you a one-of-a kind celebration - the "6th Annual Third Ward Shortest & Smallest St. Patrick's Day Parade."

According to event organizers, the route changed this year. "Past parade-goers told us that 844 feet was far too long to walk, so instead, we will march around Catalano Square for an even shorter 280 steps," Nancy O'Keefe said.

"So dress up in your finest Irish attire, bring an instrument and get ready to kiss the Blarney Stone! This is a crazy parade and provides laughter for everyone. It's a great way to let workers out of their offices early and residents to experience some old-fashioned Third Ward fun.

We encourage you to bring banners or parade signs advertising your business. Bars and restaurants - bring some coupons or flyers along with your St. Patty's Day specials - you can hand them out to all the parade goers!

There will be entertainment by Ian Gould, Milwaukee's finest Irish entertainer and a performance by the McMenamin Irish Dancers. And, of course, green beer for $1."
