Those searching for Tom Hecht remain positive, optimistic

MILWAUKEE -- The search continues for a missing Milwaukee man who hasn't been seen in eight days. Friends of 28-year-old Tom Hecht say they remain positive and optimistic their search will yield tips and eventually lead them to Tom.

Hecht was last seen Saturday, March 10th at Rosie's bar on Water Street. Hecht was participating in the "Shamrock Shindig" pub crawl.

It's been a week of searching for family, friends and some who have never even met Hecht. The group looking for the UW-Milwaukee graduate and commercial real estate worker has grown in number and scope. Hecht's friend, Tony DeGrand and his fiance made the trip to Milwaukee from Nebraska to assist with the search. Hecht is a groomsman in the DeGrand wedding this summer. Another friend traveled from New York to help out. "If I were in the same situation, Tom would be there for me," DeGrand said.

Police have searched the Milwaukee River south and north of Hecht's last known location, and his friends continue to post missing signs in areas already visited and scrutinize other locations more closely. Many wear orange shirts reading "Help Find Tom Hecht" - giving his website, www.tomhecht.com more exposure.

Friends and family say they're keeping a high profile, and hoping a picture or a name, or both, will lead to a lead in this case. "We're just so grateful for everyone's participating and help," Robert Hecht, Tom's father said.
