Home and Garden Show has many thinking spring!

MILWAUKEE -- Spring is in the air, and many say they've already got home improvement projects underway! The annual Realtors Home and Garden Show kicked off Thursday, March 23rd at the State Fair Expo Center.

The Home and Garden Show is one of the biggest expos of the year, with over 360 vendors and tens of thousands of attendees.

Tracy Coulter's family was on the hunt for ways to improve their backyard Sunday. Daughter Emmy found a few favorites in a fountain and some flowers. "We are looking at some garden landscapes. We could use some sprucing up of our existing landscape, and we're going to add some color," Coulter said.

Vendors say the recent warm temperatures and milder winter have many thinking about outdoor projects earlier. Sean Plymesser with Innovative Exteriors Landscape says the recovering economy is also helping people spend more on these projects. "Things have been happening a lot sooner than normal, and we've had unbelievable early spring (weather) and it's getting people ready for an early summer. It's been great to see. It's been a nice uptick and it's very nice knowing that things look like they are very prosperous this year," Plymesser said.

Steven Wagner with Design Tech Remodeling specializes in remodeling kitchens and bathrooms. Wagner says he agrees that people are starting to spend more money in regards to improving their homes. "I think people are a little more enthusiastic about the economy right now, and feel a little bit better about making the investments into their homes," Wagner said.

The Realtors Home and Garden Show is closed Monday and Tuesday (March 26th and 27th) and continues Wednesday through Sunday, April 1st.
