Man accused in east side hit and run headed to trial

MILWAUKEE -- A 22-year-old man accused in the east side hit and run crash that left a college student with critical injuries pleaded not guilty Monday, March 26th.

Douglas Davis entered his plea Monday morning, after agreeing to let the case go to trial.

Davis is accused of hitting 22-year-old Mai Kaw Xiong at Farwell and North Avenue earlier this month.

At last report, Xiong was in a medically-induced coma. She suffered a fractured femur, internal bleeding, and a crushed pelvis among other injuries in the crash.

A website has been set up by a close friend to help offset medical expenses. Xiong will need multiple surgeries to reconstruct her hip and pelvic bones.
