Tim Tebow draws huge crowd to Texas church Easter service

GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) -- An Easter morning service featuring an appearance by New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow drew a huge crowd of worshippers at a central Texas church.

Tebow spoke at Celebration Church's outdoor "Easter on the Hill'' service in Georgetown, about 20 miles north of Austin.

Hundreds of school buses shuttled people to the sprawling megachurch campus and large video screens were set up for those toward the back, giving the event the feeling of a rock concert.

The church invited people to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the two-hour service under sunny skies. Some of those who arrived early wore Tebow Jets jerseys.

Church officials say Tebow contacted them to schedule the appearance.

Former Milwaukee Archbishop and now Cardinal Timothy Dolan seemed to seize the opportunity to garner some laughs Sunday morning. Cardinal Dolan presided over Easter Sunday Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Cardinal Dolan spoke about the importance of Easter Sunday, but lightened the mood by tossing in a Tim Tebow joke. "You'd think I'd be happy that we've got over 3,000 people at Saint Patrick's Cathedral this morning. You'd think one Timothy Dolan would be so happy, but I'm actually jealous because one Timothy Tebow has 25,000 in Texas," Dolan said.
