MPD issues warning about increased home burglaries

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are warning residents on the city’s south side about a recent increase in home burglaries.

Police say there been an uptick in burglaries in two areas ranging from W. Rogers St. to W. Lincoln Ave., S. 27th St. to S. 33rd St. The second area ranges from W. Burnham St. to W. Becher, S. 6th St. to S. 16th St.

The Milwaukee Police Department offered a few tips to help keep your home and possessions safe:

  • Lock your doors and windows when you leave home.
  • Keep window shades drawn down when you leave home.
  • Increase occupancy indicators like leaving lights and televisions on.
  • Install deadbolt locks on all of your exterior doors.
