Riverside custodian honored as best-loved teacher

MILWAUKEE -- McDonald's teamed up with V100 radio to find an honor the best-loved teacher in southeastern Wisconsin, and a custodian was selected!

Riverside High School custodian Sherman Dixon didn't even know about the contest, or that he was a nominee.

Dixon was nominated by a parent for his strong and positive influence on the kids at the school.

Dixon said he's honored, but it's the kids who have actually influenced him.

"Since I've been working here at Riverside it's been an awesome experience. It's actually changed my thought or position, being that next year I  could hopefully be in the classroom with the kids because working with them made me see another part of life that I didn't know I had in me," Dixon said.

For winning the contest, Dixon is heading to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, all expenses paid.
