2011 job-creation numbers for Wisconsin being revised

OCONOMOWOC (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says final job-creation numbers for 2011 are being revised and will show more growth for the year than previously reported.

Gov. Walker said Monday, May 14th during a campaign stop at a carpet store in Oconomowoc that new numbers out this week will show a "brighter'' jobs picture for 2011. Job creation has been a major focus of the campaign to recall Walker. The election is June 5.

Gov. Walker says employers are holding off on creating jobs until after the recall election, saying the state will see a "tremendous takeoff'' then.

But Walker's challenger Democratic Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says Walker has had time to create jobs but has failed. Only 5,900 private sector jobs have been created under Walker.
