The Natural Resources Board to consider wolf hunt scope statement

MADISON (AP) -- The Natural Resources Board is set to consider granting state wildlife officials the go-ahead to develop the logistics for this fall's wolf hunt.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill this spring authorizing a wolf hunt beginning on Oct. 15. The Department of Natural Resources now must flesh out details such as quotas and hunting zone structures.

The governor has given the DNR the green light to start drafting the rules. Agency officials still need approval from the board before they can begin, though.

The board is scheduled to vote on whether to grant the agency permission at a meeting Wednesday, May 23rd in Madison.
