State reorganizes Hoan Bridge construction project

MILWAUKEE -- There is a change in plans for the Hoan Bridge project as the state has rerouted construction work starting on the south end, rather than the north.

The state of Wisconsin has reorganized construction work on the Hoan Bridge project to buy more time for Milwaukee officials to pursue plans to remove two ramps from the Lake Interchange.

The ramps extend from the eastern edge of the Lake Interchange and connect to North Lincoln Memorial Drive.

If the ramps are removed, it would free up land specifically in the area of Van Buren and Clybourn, where new developments, such as a high-rise, could be built.

Reconstruction on the Hoan Bridge is scheduled to start in the Fall of 2013.
