Brewers win on Aoki walkoff

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers needed a home series win badly, and Norichika Aoki delivered that win Thursday, June 7th, crushing a walk-off home run in the bottom of the tenth to give the Brewers a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park.

The ending to this series was exciting, considering the Brewers were shut out by the Cubs on Tuesday night, and then the Cubs were shut out by the Brewers on Wednesday night. Then the first three innings were scoreless.

Finally, the scoring got going in the fourth, when Aoki hit his first home run of the game off Cubs starter Matt Garza to put the Brewers up 1-0. They would add a second run in the bottom of the sixth when George Kattaras singled, scoring Corey Hart.

The Cubs responded with a run in the seventh, and then took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth, when pinch hitter Bryan LaHair hit a two-run home run off Francisco Rodriguez. Brewers pitcher Randy Wolf's strong start up to that point was turned into a no-decision.

Corey Hart would tie the game in the bottom of the eighth with a double that scored Aoki, setting up extra innings, when Aoki hit his winning home run.

Reliever John Axford ended up picking up the win for the Brewers, while reliever Casey Coleman took the loss for the Cubs.
