EAST TROY — An East Troy mother pleaded guilty in the deaths of her infants.

26-year-old Melody Butt admitted to letting her 11-month-old twin son and daughter drown in a bathtub last September.

Butt said she fell asleep.

Butt pleaded guilty Thursday, June 14th to two counts of neglecting a child (consequence is death). Two other counts were dismissed, but were read into the court record.

She is expected to be sentenced on July 31st.

In the meantime, she is out on bond and is under a no contact order with her other children unless under supervision of authorities.

The two felony charges each carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
