GREEN BAY (AP) — A 31-year-old Green Bay man was arrested after police found his girlfriend dead in the basement of their apartment.

Green Bay police took Richard Scott Gardipee into custody on a tentative murder charge in the death of 26-year-old Wendy Garcia.

The suspect is expected to be in court Monday afternoon.

Allegedly, Gardipee went to his friend’s house and told the friend he had hurt his girlfriend. The friend called police at about 5 p.m. Saturday and urged them to check the apartment.

The suspect allegedly told investigators that an argument he had with Garcia became physical.

A four-year-old boy described as the victim’s son from a previous relationship was also found in the apartment unharmed.
