Racine firefighters extinguish basement fire in 100-degree heat

RACINE -- As temperatures hovered around 100 degrees on Wednesday, July 4th, Racine firefighters battled a basement fire in the 400 block of Park View around 12:30 p.m.

Officials say a 16-year-old boy living in the building noticed electricity to a portion of the building had been shut down, and noticed smoke.

The boy discovered a fire in the basement, and called 911.

Fire crews extinguished what they call an accidental electrical fire in the basement.

Officials say there were no injuries, and damage is estimated at $1,500.
