15-year-old Plymouth girl at theater during mass shooting in Colorado

PLYMOUTH -- According to the Sheboygan Press, Plymouth High School sophomore Katie Trakel was in the Aurora, Colorado theater when a gunman began shooting during a midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises early Friday, July 20th.

The 15-year-old was in the room next to the one that 24-year-old James Holmes began shooting in. One of the bullets came through the wall and hit Trakel's friend Gage, but Trakel was uninjured.

In an interview with the Sheboygan Press, Trakel said she and her friends thought the gunshots were part of the movie, until they noticed Gage was shot.

"Gage looked down at his arm and saw he was shot. He ran out of the theater, and we saw blood on the stairs. We started yelling that we gotta get out..." Trakel said.
