Police search for subjects that stole vehicle, beat man during robbery

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are searching for four male subjects that stole a vehicle before beating a man, while attempting to rob him at a gas station.

Police say on July 11th around 11:55 p.m. four male subjects exited a mid-size, four-door vehicle and approached a man at a gas station, asking him "where's the money?" The subjects then rushed the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. While the victim was down, the subjects kicked and hit the victim in the head, nose and rib cage.

Police say the suspects took the victim's cell phone and then proceeded to search his pockets, taking cash, driver's license, debit card and a three-inch folding pocket knife.

Police say the vehicle used in the incident had been stolen, but has since been returned to the owner. A deputy discovered the car was stolen after scanning the plates while it was parked outside of the Speedway Gas Station, located at 800 East Layton Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the subjects, but they fled the scene.

Officials say the victim's debit card was recovered from inside the stolen vehicle and was returned to him.

Police describe the four suspects as follows: Suspect one is described as an African-America male, 5'10" to 6" feet tall, 165 to 170 pounds with black hair in dread locks. The second suspect is described as an African-American male, 5'10" to 6" feet tall, medium build with short, black hair. The third suspect is described as an African-American male, 5'10" to 6" feet tall, medium build with short, black hair. Police do not have a description for the fourth suspect.
