Two dead, one hurt after crash on Nagawicka Rd.

DELAFIELD -- Two young men were killed and a third was hurt after a car crashed into a utility pole Tuesday morning, July 24th on Nagawicka Road in Delafield. The wreck happened shortly after 3 a.m.

The driver and front seat passenger died at the scene of the wreck. It took emergency crews 45 minutes to remove the backseat passenger from the car. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital.

Police aren't sure whether it was raining at the time of the crash, and whether slippery roads may have been a contributing factor. However, they do believe speed was a factor.

Robert Schutt lives near the curve where the crash happened. He said it's not the first time a serious crash has happened there.

"Last time also high school aged kids. It's a common occurrence, same age group," Schutt said.

Over the years, the city of Delafield has changed the speed limit along the stretch of Nagawicka Rd. They even set up radar trailers to alert speeders, but Schutt says it doesn't seem to be working.

"Maybe there is something more we need to do to step in because the kids are not able to control themselves and it's too bad it has to end that way," Schutt said.

The third victim who was taken to Froedtert Hospital did not have an ID on him. Police want to know for sure who that third victim is. Once they are able to notify family members involved, then the names of all three victims will be released.
