Heat advisory in effect for southeast Wisconsin through 9 p.m.

MILWAUKEE -- People all over southeast Wisconsin are eager for relief from our stretch of extreme heat. Another heat advisory has been issued for Wednesday, July 25th, with an expected heat index in the range of 100-110°.

Health officials advise people to check on those who may be vulnerable to extreme heat. Most heat-related illnesses involve the elderly or individuals who have chronic illnesses, although children, athletes and outdoor workers are also at risk. 

Symptoms of heat exhaustion include fainting, rash, fatigue and nausea, and the skin may become clammy and moist or hot and dry. If these symptoms appear, take immediate actions to reduce body temperature.

State health officials say there have been 22 confirmed and possible heat-related deaths in the state between July 1st and July 20th.

As of July 20th, there have been 10 confirmed heat-related fatalities. There have been two confirmed heat-related fatalities in La Crosse and Barron counties, and one each in Juneau, Richland, Rock, Vernon, Dane and Kewaunee counties.

As for the possible heat-related fatalities, there have been six in Milwaukee County, two in Rock County, and one each in Columbia, Waukesha, Winnebago and Menominee counties.
