State Sen. candidate Coggs calling for clean campaign

MILWAUKEE -- State Senate candidate Elizabeth Coggs is calling on her competitors to sign a pledge for a clean campaign.

Coggs says a mailing by a special interest group out of Wauwatosa says she voted for Act 10 -- the controversial law that stripped collective bargaining rights from public sector unions.

"The flier that went out was a blatant lie. Let me repeat -- it was a lie. That is why I stand for the people and for the community. My record shows I stand for the people and for the community," Coggs said.

Milwaukee County Supervisor Nikiya Harris, Milwaukee County Supervisor Michael Mayo, Allyn Monroe Swan and Delta Triplett are running against Coggs for the District 6 state Senate seat.

There is no word yet on whether the other candidates will sign the pledge.
