Milwaukee Business Journal: Interview with Frontier Airlines CEO

MILWAUKEE -- Frontier Airlines was the top carrier out of Milwaukee's Mitchell International Airport, but two years later, the airline has all but abandoned the market.

At its peak, Frontier Airlines had over 80 flights out of Milwaukee. Now, that number has dropped to seven.

In an exclusive interview with Milwaukee's Business Journal, CEO Bryan Bedford says the airline couldn't make it work in the Milwaukee market.

Bedford was criticized early on for a public comment he made about Milwaukee not being a destination market, but says he has changed his opinion, and feels it's a great place to live and work. Bedford even has a son attending Marquette University.

Despite his change in heart, he says: "Unfortunately, we just didn't get enough revenue production from there."

Bedford says the seven flights left in Milwaukee will stay put.
