Wisconsin State Fair begins 11-day run

WEST ALLIS -- The gates opened for the 161st Wisconsin State Fair for its 11-day run, on Thursday, August 2nd.

The Midway has been transformed into "Spin City" this year, where there are 38 game stations, 10 food spots and 51 rides, including four brought in from outside of the country!

Those special imports never seen at the Wisconsin State Fair before include the German-made “Flipper,” the “Wind Storm” and the “Stratosphere.”

The “Stratosphere" is billed as the world’s tallest portable swing tower. It’s a 200-foot swing that will help riders fly about 160 feet off the ground!

There are about 80 new food items that will be unveiled this year.

“There is a ‘Fat Elvis,’ which is deep fried with bacon around it — a Reese’s peanut butter cup in banana batter on a stick,” Kathleen O’Leary with the WI State Fair said.

For the fair’s entire 11-day run, anyone under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian after 5:00 p.m.
