Hindu Temple of WI to host vigil following Sikh Temple shooting



PEWAUKEE -- In the wake of Sunday's shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, The Hindu Temple of Wisconsin is holding a prayer vigil on Thursday, August 9th to remember the six killed and pray for the three critically wounded when 40-year-old Wade Michael Page entered the temple and opened fire.

Thursday's vigil is planned from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Hindu Temple -- N4063 W243 Pewaukee Road.

 “The terrible tragedy at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek has touched us all very deeply and in many personal ways. We stand in solidarity with our Sikh brothers and sisters. We share the great pain and loss of the Sikh community and the affected families and join other faith communities in offering our heartfelt prayers for the victims," Anand Adavi, president of the Hindu Temple of Wisconsin said in a statement.

The prayer vigil is open to everyone, of any faith, to mourn collectively.

Personal donations and this week’s collections from the Hindu Temple cafeteria will be donated to the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek.
