Packers James Starks rehabbing hamstring on old school bicycle

GREEN BAY -- It's the dream of many mini Packers fans to be just like their favorite players, but this off-season, at least one of the Green Bay Packers players wanted to be just like them!

Packers running back James Starks has dealt with various injuries during his career, but it's the hamstring he's most worried about potentially cutting his NFL dreams short.

"I think being a tall running back, the unknown training gets to the hamstring during training with the short cuts and things," Starks said.

A few months ago, Starks gave his feet a break by investing in two wheels. He says he rode his bike about 20 miles a week.

"A guy I was training with in the off-season knew about the hamstring problems I had. Said maybe they get fatigued fast, so he said instead of driving your car everywhere, hop on the bike and take some rides," Starks said.

"My legs seem to be working together well which sometimes doesn't happen after hamstring injuries you feel out of balance - put more pressure on one side and it's uncomfortable. Now I feel balanced," Starks said.

While some of his Niagra Falls neighbors laughed when they saw the Super Bowl champ pedaling around.

"It happens a lot, but it's exercise and I'm working and you don't even know it. People I know are trying to get bikes -- the old school bikes -- the same one I got. It really don't matter what people say. I'm doing it for my benefit and to get ready for this season," Starks said.
