FBI audit of Milwaukee Police Dept. crime reporting complete

MILWAUKEE -- AN FBI audit of the Milwaukee Police Department crime reporting is now complete.

The FBI found the MPD had errors. But the department apparently met all state guidelines for reporting crimes.

Based on the Quality Assurance Review (QAR), the FBI recommends that Wisconsin ensure local agencies accurately report offenses, ensure the state program has enough staff to conduct audits, and ensure those agencies accurately report hate crime.

Police Chief Ed Flynn faced allegations back in June that his department was intentionally misreporting crime numbers.
