MDA Goodwill Ambassador speaks to Harley dealers

MILWAUKEE -- This week, there's a whole of lot hogs rolling into downtown Milwaukee for Harley-Davidson’s summer dealer meeting.  On Tuesday, August 21st, thousands of dealers from around the world got to hear from a very special boy with a truly inspirational story.

At the Milwaukee Theater Tuesday, Bryson Foster spoke to the crowd. Foster was five years old when he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

“Before I go on, I'm really anxious.  But when I get on the stage, I don't want to get off,” Foster said.

“I can't wait to have some cheese curds later today,” Foster told the crowd.  His statement drew a big applause -- but it was his story of hardship and hope that wowed the crowd.

“When I'm sitting in my wheelchair, I really wish I can get up and just run around like I used to be able to.  There are certain days where I feel like, ‘Man, I just really want to quit.’  But you got to keep trudging,” Foster said.

Muscular Dystrophy weakens all of Foster's muscles -- especially those in his legs.

Foster is this year's Muscular Dystrophy Association's National Goodwill Ambassador.  As part of his role - he's traveled the country speaking at big events.

“I’ve been to Tucson, Arizona.  Been to Nashville, Tennessee twice. It makes me feel like this is what I’ve been working for, and you know, I could really do something," Foster said.

Tuesday was Foster's second time in the Brew City.  In May, Foster was at the Harley-Davidson’s Black and Blue Charity Ball.

Some say Foster's calling is in his voice, but he has other aspirations too.

“My long term goal is to be the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, and if that doesn't work out, then I'd like to be a broadcaster,” Foster said.

Foster says his biggest goal is finding a cure for his disease and others like it.

“It would really mean a lot to a lot of families like mine if we could find a cure,” Foster said.

Foster will be featured in this year's MDA Telethon called "Show of Strength," which will air on FOX6 Saturday, Sept. 2nd.
